OUR HISTORY (SO FAR)

Old Amersham may be old, but our sweet shop is only 2 years young! Established at Easter in 2009 after Andrew, Fleur & Claire from Seasons next door decided they wanted to own a sweet shop (a front for their sweetie habits). When the much loved post office closed down in 2008 they set about moving all things sweet and delicious in to the small shop at No.8 Market Square.

With the help of Lauren & Imogen, both of whom happened to be studying at the London School of Fashion, and good friends, helped design and fashion the inside of the shop with their keen eye for interiors; they moved in and designed and realised the dream! Pretty pastel pink and brown were to be the key colours, and the overall feel was to be that of an original sweet shop from the fifties. Row upon row of wooden shelves became home to heavy, beautiful glass jars, Fleur found a much needed home for her collection of vintage glass cake stands and her Mum used her enviable talent in dressmaking to produce meter upon meter of beautiful bunting which was to decorate the ceiling. Dress patterns decorated the walls and labels were made for all the jars which were finally filled…

The shop seemed to be a hit with children and adults a-like right from the start.  Not even the wet dreary 2009 summer kept people away from the ice cream! The ice cream competition with the local children from St Mary’s School got imaginations working overtime as they set about designing their own flavours. The winner had their very own ice cream flavour on sale in the shop… it was scrumptious. We had fun from the word go especially around Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s day; any excuse for us to dress up and decorate, the shop really come into its own. We’re looking forward to the future and hope you’ll pop in at some point to visit us.
